Border quilting

I have been slack on the machine of late.

Too busy with study and the like. But, Mum is here in a week (permanently) and I cannot have the same thing under the needle of the machine as when she was last here - now can I?

Part of the problem was, what to do with the border of this quilt.

So, I went with -

It will do.

Art Quilt Reveal

Well, here it is.

My environmentally messaged Animal Kingdom quilt.

I am quite happy with it. I think I would have like to have had the time to add a thread painted parrot to the coloured triangle. But, perhaps that would have been a bit ambitious for me.

Animal Kingdom

I found this art quilt theme a challenge.

I have had the concept in my head since discussing the theme with Mum before she announced it, but to put it in fabric?

My sneak peak is the centre, and the corners, and I just have to put together the surrounds.

I want to portray the destruction of the animal kingdom's natural habitat, so there is lots of grey, and black.

And then represent the heirarchy of the animal kingdom by way of a triangle in the brilliant colours of my local parrot species. We are privileged enough to live with a thriving parrot population, with many species.

It is going to be abstract, but I am also hoping it will be attractive, and am looking to illustrate some skill in my quilting. Straight lines as very straight and the like.

And like the previous challenge, really want to ensure that it is finished off well, and not rushed.

So far so good.

Latest charity project

It is the 'antique tile block', that was a swap on the SQCATC site.

So, I didn't make any of these blocks, my blocks are all over the country in other quilts.

I am using this project in hope of getting my 'mojo' back.

Wish me luck.

Unpicking

I am not sure whether a pile of unpicking like this one:

means I have had a productive afternoon of work or not.

But, I am working on finishing off to a better quality, so I suppose that means not being afraid of the quick unpick.

Different ...

The latest theme for our online art quilt group is different.

Specifically, use a colour that you would not normally work with.

I have officially thrown to the @#$% my first attempt. Way to amateur - ish.

So, here is a glimpse of attempt #2.

At least I have to the end of the month to decide how I shall put it together and quilt it.

Not my finest efforts - the finishing off bits. I usually get lazy by that stage and rush, and instead of a decent piece of work, I get an ordinary piece.
